Flaine – A Culturally Rich Location

Flaine, located in Haute-Savoie at an altitude of 1700 meters, has always been dedicated to the arts. The architecture was designed by Marcel Breuer, a Bauhaus architect. The area features sculptures by Picasso, Dubuffet, and Vasarely, as well as paintings by Piffaretti and Hantaï, and a fountain by Pol Bury. A high-quality auditorium has been constructed to host cultural events, offering exceptional acoustics.

Artwork by Jean Dubuffet

The Opus Artis Paris International Art and Design Competition aims to discover more young artists and designers, encourage them to pursue careers in art, and provide an exceptional platform for the growth of the next generation of artists.

The Opus Artis Paris International Art and Design Competition

In the vast realm of art, every design work stands as a mirror of the designer's soul, a crystallization of their unique understanding and expression of the world. However, creating at the highest artistic level is not an easy task; it requires not only a profound artistic foundation but also constant practice and innovation.

The Opus Artis Paris International Art and Design Competition was born out of this value. We hope to use this platform to encourage designers to continually explore the unknown, daringly experiment with new design concepts and techniques, and thus keep advancing on the path of art..

This sculpture is a piece from the iconic "L'Hourloupe" series by French artist Jean Dubuffet, located in Flaine, France. Created in the 1960s, this series is characterized by black outlines combined with color blocks in white, blue, red, and other hues, featuring cartoonish, abstract, and dynamic forms that create a spatial illusion between two and three dimensions.

Dubuffet challenged traditional art with this style, expressing a reconstruction and rebellion against reality, embodying the free and unconventional spirit of Art Brut. Situated amidst the natural mountain landscape of Flaine, the work stands in stark contrast to modern architecture and the Alpine scenery, adding a rich artistic atmosphere to this resort and becoming a classic example of the integration of public art with the natural environment.
